Hearing Greta Thunberg
Climate activist Greta Thunberg perfectly embodies my favorite quote from Margaret Mead, the words which inspire this blog :
“Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; Indeed, it’s the only thing that ever has.”
– Margaret Mead
On Earth Day, the 50th Anniversary of Earth Day, I want to share her words of earnest wisdom and truth. Whether we are battling Covid-19 or climate change, and right now we need to do both, we must listen to the scientists and adjust our actions accordingly.
We Can Make a Difference
We can reduce the amount of plastic in our lives and it will reduce what is dumped into our landfills. We can replace toxic chemicals in our households, from our cleaning supplies to what’s in our food, and that will reduce pollution in our water and soil, not to mention our own bodies. We can shop used, shop up-cycled and shop ‘green’ regardless of our budget or geographic location. We can put our money where our brain and heart is with what we purchase, how we purchase and how we invest our money. Earth Day offers us a reminder of what our challenges are, what we’re doing now, what more we can do, and who our heroes are – who inspire us to do more and reach higher in our efforts to save the planet for future generations.
Happy Earth Day everyone, I wish you all clean soil, clean air and clean water!
