Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a beacon of light and strength for the pursuit of equality and justice. She very tangibly, in real terms that we all feel in our daily lives, Saved the World Every Day. We must honor her legacy by exercising the intelligence, courage and persistence that she mustered throughout her life to achieve what she did, which transformed a woman’s place in American society.
If you’re not familiar with her life, struggles and incredible accomplishments, and their impact on your life, I urge you to watch the films RBG, a documentary produced in 2018 and the feature film On the Basis of Sex produced in 2019. Her contributions to how women in the United States live are too numerous to list here, but if you are a woman and you have a bank account, a credit card or a mortgage in your name; if you have consented to your own medical treatment; if you played sports in school; if you work in a law firm or any other business that was predominately male in 1970 – you owe that to Ruth Bader Ginsburg.
The PBS NewsHour produced this short biography of Judge Ginsburg last night following the news of her passing:
“I ask no favors for my sex. All I ask of my brethren is that they take their feet off our necks.”
– Ruth Bader Ginsburg quoting Abolitionist Sarah Grimke in her Supreme Court confirmation hearing in August 1993.
Throughout her life Ruth Bader Ginsburg was rejected, dismissed and impeded by those who could not accept or understand that women are inherently equal to men as human beings. She made an immeasurable contribution to America and to the way American women live their lives, by refusing to give up even when the odds seemed hopeless. Supreme Court Justice Ginsburg was a living example of tenacious persistence for what she believed in.
Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a legend – she fought for the rights of the voiceless, she fought relentlessly for equality and agency for us all. We can celebrate and honor her life by following her example with our voices, the way we live our daily lives and with our votes. We can carry her light, her fight, in our hearts and march forward.
“Fight for the things that you care about, but do it in a way that will lead others to join you.” – Ruth Bader Ginsburg

Though small in physical stature, her footprint in history will always be as that of one of the greatest judges to grace the Supreme Court. A mind and intellect like no other and irreplaceable, I will miss very much her presence and dignity greatly!!!
I will too Lynne, I don’t think we can overestimate her contribution to our lives, how she literally changed the way American women live. Our equality under the law is what it is today because of her.
Eloquent tribute, Ms. Wanda. 🇺🇸
